Entertaiment – The Art of Amusing and Diverting Others

The art of amusing and diverting others. Entertaiment has the unique ability to cross media platforms and remain familiar over time. This has led to a high degree of longevity for many familiar forms. It is also worth considering that what appears to be entertainment may not actually be that and might instead be a means of realising insight or intellectual growth. Often Entertainment hits on the themes that our brain was evolved to deeply react to, such as social backstabbing or murders. It can also stimulate the brain and realease seratonin and dopamine.

According to Bates and Ferri (2010) Entertainment is consumer activity that is understood objectively, encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form.
